Agie Charmilles – Wire and die-sinking EDM machines
Agie Charmilles is one of those names that anyone working in the world of EDM knows well. We are talking about a historic brand, one of the strongest when it comes to wire EDM and die-sinking EDM. Specialized in machining hard materials and ultra-complex geometries, Agie Charmilles is the ideal solution for manufacturers of molds, micro-components, tooling and precision parts for highly demanding sectors.
ConGri is an authorized Agie Charmilles dealer and supports companies in choosing the most suitable EDM technology, providing technical assistance from the analysis phase through to production start-up.
Agie Charmilles – Beyond precision
In EDM machining, precision is not determined by machine rigidity, but by the stability of the electrical discharge arc. This is where Agie Charmilles stands out. Its machines do more than generate electrical discharges between the wire or electrode and the workpiece: they control every impulse, managing energy in a continuous and predictable way.
As part of the United Machining group, formerly GF Machining Solutions, Agie Charmilles represents the highest level of EDM technology. The machines are built to maintain constant working conditions at all times. The frame, made from materials that absorb vibrations, isolates the erosion circuit and allows micron-level tolerances even when machining multiple parts simultaneously.
Control is everything. The management unit regulates micro-discharges in sequence, automatically modulating the intensity of the arc and the distance between wire/electrode and material. This avoids short circuits, burn marks and corner deformation. Surface quality remains uniform, even on complex shapes. Thermal control is equally advanced: the machine measures in real time the temperature variations in the dielectric fluid and the mechanical structure, and compensates immediately to maintain the same erosion gap from the first to the last part.
The result is a process in which the part comes out finished, with no need for reworking: precise geometries, sharp edges, extremely low surface roughness. In molds and dies, this means skipping grinding or milling steps, saving time and money.
Automation completes the picture. Agie Charmilles integrates electrode management systems, automatic wire changers, pallet loading, presetting and remote monitoring. The machines can run overnight, without an operator, with extremely high reliability on the final result.
Every Agie Charmilles machine is built for one purpose: machining what others cannot, with predictable precision and consistent quality.
Agie Charmilles product range – Wire and die-sinking EDM
The Agie Charmilles range offers EDM solutions for every requirement: from mold and tooling production to high-precision micro-machining. Every model handles complex geometries, difficult materials such as hardened steels, carbides and superalloys, and long production cycles even without supervision.
Wire EDM – EDM Wire
Agie Charmilles wire EDM machines deliver precise cutting and uniform surfaces. Ideal when you need complex profiles, sharp edges, extremely low roughness. The wire guide system ensures stability and trajectory control even where thickness varies, preventing deviations and misalignment. The automatic wire changer allows switching from rough cut to finishing without stopping the machine. These machines are especially suitable for mold makers, inserts, medical components and micro-machining.
Die-sinking EDM – EDM Die Sinking
Agie Charmilles die-sinking EDM machines are designed to create cavities and 3D shapes impossible to obtain with conventional machining. The arc control prevents burn marks, while the distance between electrode and workpiece is regulated adaptively to maintain constant finishing. Automation options include electrode changers, presetting, dielectric management and IoT production monitoring.
